The Board of Directors for Equality California and Equality California Institute has retained executive search firm Morris & Berger, which specializes in the nonprofit sector, to assist in its national search for an executive director to succeed Executive Director Geoff Kors. Kors will step down from his position later this year.

Joint Statement from Clarissa Filgioun, Board President for Equality California and Cathy Schwamberger, Board President for Equality California Institute:

"Although Equality California and Equality California Institute, its members and allies have achieved a great deal together over the last decade, there is still much to do in order to achieve full equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender Californians, and we have unprecedented opportunities to advance our mission.

"As we begin a new, exciting chapter for Equality California and the Institute, we look forwarding to finding an executive director who is not only a champion for LGBT equality, but who will also ensure that Equality California continues to affect real change in the lives of LGBT community members. During this process, we look forward to seeking input from board members, staff and community stakeholders to find an executive director who will effectively lead the organization in the years to come."

The search is expected to take approximately four to six months.
