A lot of California politicos have been waiting for a report on Prop 8 by David Fleischer for about a year. It's finally out - and it's 511-pages long. He wrote about it in Tuesday's LA Times. And he's set up a very useful website where you can read the report or just sections, as well as see supplemental material. There's also a conference call with reporters so a number of us will be writing about it - including me.

But while this report is incredibly useful - he pulls together a lot of information - at first glance, I'm not sure what may be new: we know the campaign made a serious mistake in not responding fast enough to lies from the Yes on 8 side; we know "wrong-way" voting resulted in more favorable votes for the No on Prop 8 campaign; and we know that Democrats and women - especially women with children - swung to the Yes side in the last few weeks - both campaign managers said that in their post-Prop 8 comments. And thankfully, the terrible perception that the African American vote "cost us" the election has long been debunked - though Fleischer apparently puts the last nail in that meme.
