May 31, 2010: Who Skipped Their Harvey Milk Day Duties? This week in Prop 8 for May 31, 2010

How did you celebrate the first official Harvey Milk Day? If you're like most gays, you skipped the hard work of door-to-door canvassing. The Bay Area Reporter noted that only a handful of people showed up in SF to talk to voters about marriage equality. Where were you? Harvey would have been pissed.

As the closing arguments in Perry vs. Schwarzenegger approach in mid-June, pro-gays continue to argue for cameras in the courtroom while anti-gays argue for secrecy. Initial reports indicated that nothing would be televised, but there's still a chance that it could happen. Sure, it's a .000001% chance, but that's still more than zero.

The Rekers rent-boy circus continues to overshadow the Prop 8 case, with anti-gay witness David Blankenhorn refuting last week's discovery that he had cited Rekers in his trial papers. Oddly enough, Blankenhorn claims that Rekers' name was included in court papers "in error." Whoops! It raises the question: what else appears "in error" in the anti-gay sides papers? Maybe Judge Walker should have asked them to proofread.

Even odder: Blankenhorn claims that he rejects Rekers' anti-gay views. But that doesn't mean that he rejects all anti-gay views! Just cast your mind back a few weeks, when Blankenhorn said that gays weaken marriage and are to blame for heterosexual divorce. Well then!
