EQCA is capitalizing on Harvey Milk Day to rally hundreds of volunteers.
"We have about a thousand people signed up around the state," said EQCA spokeswoman Vaishalee Raja. Canvassing activities are planned from San Diego to San Francisco, with volunteers walking from door to door to tell neighbors about why marriage equality is personally important to them.
And just as Harvey Milk called on gays to pursue visibility in every community, EQCA's conversations will happen in neighborhoods that have traditionally voted against gay equality. That's a big change from the Prop 8 campaign, which neglected both face-to-face canvassing and conservative areas of the state.
