Patten handed the Committee a new UCLA research study released last week projecting Vermont would see $31 million in new consumer spending, and 700 new jobs, in the first three years following passage of same-sex marriage. The study was based on Vermont's experience with civil unions, and data from other states with gay marriage rights.
