Harvey defied the cautious gay leadership of the day who wanted to fight Prop 6 without mentioning the word "gay" or putting the faces and stories of gay or lesbian teachers into the public eye. They wanted to do it by letting our straight liberal allies speak for us instead. And they wanted a top-down, politics-as-usual campaign.
